Fundamentals of plant-pest control / Daniel A. Roberts. - San Francisco : W.H. Freeman, 1987. - xii, 242 pages : illustrations ; 25 cm.

includes index.

Noxious organisms, collectively termed pests, have plagued mankind from the beginning, and, it seems, will continue to vex people and thwart their endeavors to the end. The pests that beset human beings and other animals and that threaten green plants abound in households, cities, barns, storage bins, fields, and the wilderness. Pests must be kept under control if we are to feed, clothe, and shelter ourselves. And by control, I mean keeping pest populations at or below their economic thresholds, those elusive levels at which the cost of combative efforts equals the value of grains achieved by those efforts. This book treats, at the first level of understanding, the nature and control of only those pests that attack crop plants, which are plants that people manage, at least to some extent.
