Considered one of the earliest biographies of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan (1817-1898), this life-sketch was written by Lieut. Colonel GFI Graham, a senior police officer in the lifetime of Sir Syed. For the author, the book was "a labour of love" that throws light on the contributions of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan as a social reformer. Graham knew Sir Syed for nearly a quarter of a century and was associated with him in many of his literary works. Written in about 1885, The Life and Work of Syed Ahmad Khan (Hardcover, Language: English, Edition: 2019, Pages: 246) delineates the younger life and career progress of Sir Syed; the politico-social milieu, struggle for Indian independence, and violence at Bijnore, and other events; the establishment of Scientific Society; educational meetings; Sir Syed's visit to England; letters written by him from England; his social reform movement and opposition within the community; reply to WW Hunter's Indian Mussulman; Wahabism- The Frontier fanatics; the opening of Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College; foundation stone laying ceremony of the College; Sir Syed Ahmad in the Vice-regal Council; Education Commission and several other engagements of the great social reformer of the nineteenth century India.
