The Indus Valley Civilization (IVC), also known as the Harappan Civilization (c. 2600–1900 BCE), developed one of the earliest writing systems in the ancient world. This script appears on seals, pottery, copper tablets, and other artifacts, and represents a major achievement of early urban civilization.
Unlike the writing systems of Mesopotamia and Egypt, the Indus script remains undeciphered, making it one of the greatest mysteries in ancient history.
